Fletching Arrows

Being able to fletch arrows is a valuable skill in archery.

  • Fletching Glue 

  • Fletching Jig

  • Fletchings

Flemish Twist Strings

For those that are interested in having a go at making your own string. Flemish Strings are traditionally used on Longbows. 

​

You will need:

​

  • String Material

  • Serving string

  • Flemish String Board

  • Scissors

  • Tape measure

  • String Wax

  • Lighter

​

​You can buy a string board from an archery shop or you can have a go at making your own using the blueprint below.

Making An Endless Loop String

An endless loop string is the one that is more commonly used and found on most recurves.

​

You will need:

​

  • String Material

  • Serving string

  • String Jig (There is one available in the clubhouse)

  • Scissors

  • Tape measure

  • String Wax

  • Lighter

​

Here are some helpful videos from Youtube on how to make an endless loop string. Novices may want to try making a string with a single colour first but you can have a go at making a two coloured string if you are feeling brave. For those that want a real challenge, there is a video for a 3 coloured string.

Serving A Bow String

This is a fiddly process that might require a few practices before you get it right.

You will need:

​

  • Serving string

  • Serving tool

  • Scissors

  • Lighter​

Nocking Point

Putting a nocking point on your string is a quick and easy job and a useful thing to be able to do.

​

You will need:

​

  • Nocking point string

  • Scissors

  • Lighter

  • Bracing gauge
