Becoming a Member
You must have completed a recognised beginners course before you can join the club. We run beginners courses twice a year, if you are interested in taking up archery please see the Beginner's Course page.
We have several categories of membership:
Standard membership (senior & junior):- Full shooting members of the club (may opt for unlimited shooting or 25-shoot membership).
Associate membership (senior & junior):- Full shooting members of the club, but having paid membership of archery organisations such as Archery GB (AGB), NFAS or BLBS so not required to pay the insurance component of the club fee, though you will still be covered by the club insurance (may opt for unlimited shooting or 25-shoot membership).
Social membership:- non-shooting with no fee - you do not need to complete a beginners' course but you should abide by the clubs safety rules.
Membership renewal due on 1st April each year.
There is one fee per member which covers membership, insurance* & target fees. Full payment is preferred but monthly standing orders accepted if necessary. Membership fees below £36/yr should be paid in full, unless paying for multiple family members.
*Associate members exempted, hence the lower fees.
If the member has no proven membership of either ARCHERY GB/SCAS/KAA, National Fields Archery Association, then they will need to pay for Standard Club membership.
Unlimited shooting membership - Members may shoot as many times as they like at any time of the year, any time of the week, but must sign in whenever they shoot.
Standard Senior Unlimited - £96 (may be paid in full or £8/month by s/o).
Standard Junior Unlimited - £48 (may be paid in full or £4/month by s/o).
Associate Senior Unlimited - £72 (may be paid in full or £6/month by s/o).
Associate Junior Unlimited - £36 (may be paid in full or £3/month by s/o).
25-Shoot membership - Members may shoot up to 25 times a year, any time of the week, and must sign in whenever they shoot.
Standard Senior 25-Shoot - £48 (may be paid in full or £4/month by s/o).
Standard Junior 25-Shoot - £24 (to be paid in full).
Associate Senior 25-Shoot - £36 (may be paid in full or £3/month by s/o).
Associate Junior 25-Shoot - £18 (to be paid in full).
There is a 50% concessionary rate for those who are registered disabled. Proof of registration required.
Shooting Fees (Indoor Shooting Only)
During the winter season (November - March), we shoot indoors at Ursuline College in Birchington. There is a shooting fee that must be paid each time you shoot indoors:
Indoor Senior - £4.00
Indoor Junior - £2.00
The Thanet Archery Club Constitution states that juniors shall be accepted from the age of ten years. If younger than twelve years it will be a condition of membership that (a) either their parents or parent are shooting members or (b) the committee will use its discretion for acceptance of membership.
